Secretary’s Report - Limited Draft

On March 18, 2025 the Hermon Republican Committee meeting was called to order 6:30 PM at Hermon Skeet Club. Pastor Scott Taylor opened with prayer and exhortation. Richard Cyr led the Pledge of Allegiance.


There were 20 registered Republicans and 4 guests in attendance.


Recognition

The following was recognized for her contributions: Common Sense Kids, Olivia Hunsinger for the courage to speak up for girls’ sports. Olivia spoke, and Jim Thorne praised her for her upstanding representation. They had been interviewed on the George Hale/Ric Tyler Show on WVOM. She also spoke at the Hermon School Board Meeting in March.


Executive Committee Report

Motion to accept Secretary’s Report made by John Snyer/Ron Murphy.

Motion to accept Treasurer’s Report made by Ron Murphy and Richard Cyr seconds. Both were accepted.


Amy Oliver-Stubbs read the Mission Statement.


Chair- Danielle welcomed first time attendees, members, and guests.


Penobscot County Republicans’ next meeting is March 24th, 6:00, Rangeley Hall, EMCC.


Our main goals after our Hermon GOP Board were elected was communication and bringing order and calm.


We began with 182 followers, and now have 461 on facebook. In Nov. we had 100,00 hits on FB for U.S. map showing no blue states. The last 28 days we have had 106,000 views.


Elected Officials Report

State

Jim Thorne- We are gaining a voice, make sure that we keep it positive. We are a party of

solutions and common sense. He would like to instruct voters how to search LD’s and weigh in.


Unfinished Business


New Business

Marianne Hunsinger reported on our initiative at Hermon High to enroll students to vote, tentatively set for the end of April.


Other Business

You can scan the QR code on our agenda to donate.


Josh Hunsinger encouraged us to look up LD 537 An Act to Prevent Doxing of a Minor and to Authorize a Related Civil Action, and LD 265 An Act to Prohibit the Maine National Guard from Combat Deployment Absent an Act of Congress. These are both very restrictive.
